Plymouth Argyle versus Cheltenham Town Carabao Cup date confirmed

The date and kick-off time of Wayne Rooney's first match at Home Park as Plymouth Argyle head coach has been confirmed. The Pilgrims will take on League Two side Cheltenham Town on Wednesday, August 14, with a 7.45pm kick-off.

It will not be played on the Tuesday night, as usually would be the case, because Argyle are away to Sheffield Wednesday in their 2024/225 Championship season-opener on Sunday, August 11. Argyle will then play host to Hull City in their first home match of the season on Saturday, August 17 (3pm).

For the first time ever, all 93 Carabao Cup matches this season will be available for fans in the UK to watch on Sky Sports as part of a new five-year, £935 million broadcast deal with the EFL.

Two first round ties will be available to watch on Sky Sports Football. They are Sheffield United versus Wrexham on August 13, and Leeds United versus Middlesbrough on August 14, both with 8pm kick-offs.

All of the remaining first round matches, including Argyle's clash against Cheltenham, will be available to watch on Sky Sports+, which is a new way for fans to discover and stream live sport.

Integrated into the current Sky TV experience and the revamped Sky Sports mobile app, Sky Sports+ is available at no extra cost for subscribers of the full Sky Sports package. All televised fixtures will also be available on streaming service NOW.

The Carabao Cup second round draw will take place at the conclusion of Leeds vs Middlesbrough match at Elland Road.

Ticket information for the Argyle clash with Cheltenham will be announced in due course. The two teams will also meet in a pre-season game at Whaddon Road on Saturday, July 20 (3pm).
