Police are appealing for witnesses after the driver of a car reportedly fled the scene of a crash after a vehicle smashed into a parked van mere yards from a police station

Initial reports suggested the car ploughed into the van at the junction of Morshead Road and Crownhill Road on Sunday evening and the driver, whom witnesses said was a woman, then ran off on foot.

At the time Devon and Cornwall Police's Force Information Manager said there were no reports of any injuries and police had to close the road to traffic while inquiries - and searches - were carried out.
