Mauricio Pochettino may well take a closer look at some of Chelsea's talented youngsters this summer as he gets his plans in place for the 2024/25 campaign. It is a huge few months coming up at Stamford Bridge as the Blues look to put their mixed form behind them and return to their previous heights.

Incomings and outgoings are going to be vital as part of the key changes needing to take place in regards to the head coach's Chelsea squad. Pochettino may already have some players at the club who could become part of his long-term plans, though.

Having taken a look at how the members of Chelsea's first-team squad currently playing away from west London on loan are faring, here we give you the latest when it comes to the Blues' youngsters, such as Omari Hutchinson, Alex Matos and Tino Anjorin, in their respective loan spells.

Charlie Webster (Heerenveen)

Webster has committed his future to Chelsea until the summer of 2025 after penning a new one-year contract at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday. The midfielder is currently away from SW6 and gaining some valuable experience in the Eredivisie with Heerenveen.

The 20-year-old has been a regular in their matchday squad this term but appearances have been hard to come by, featuring in just ten league games so far. Webster get on the pitch for Heerenveen last weekend as he came on for the final minute of their 2-0 win away at Heracles Almelo.

It won't be long before his time in the Netherlands comes to an end, though, as Heerenveen have four games of the season to go, with a home clash against league leaders PSV their next game.

Omari Hutchinson (Ipswich Town)

Hutchinson has a pivotal role to play as loan club Ipswich Town chase promotion to the Premier League with three games of the Championship season remaining. The Tractor Boys have only managed two points from a possible nine at such a crucial time in the season, meaning they have really failed to capitalise on both Leicester City and Leeds United's stuttering form even though they now currently sit top.

The 20-year-old has started nine of Ipswich's last ten league fixtures and he has become such a key player in Kieran McKenna's team, contributing eight goals and six assists in 47 games this season. His form should certainly give Pochettino something to think about as he gets his plans in place for next season.

Amid question marks over Raheem Sterling's future this summer, Hutchinson could prove to be an alternative to the experienced attacker. Ipswich have no game this weekend due to Coventry City's participation in the FA Cup semi-finals, meaning their next match comes against Hull City a week on Saturday.

Mason Burstow (Sunderland)

Burstow has really struggled for game time of late at Sunderland. Heading to the Stadium of Light in the summer and getting a good run of games at the beginning of the season, the striker's last league appearance came in a 12-minute cameo at home to QPR in the middle of March.

Since then, Burstow has been an unused substitute in four of the Black Cats' last five games and he was absent from the squad for the draw away at Leeds. The youngster will be hoping his situation changes in the next couple of weeks as he bids to end his time on Wearside on a positive note with Sunderland only having three games of the campaign to go.

Alex Matos (Huddersfield Town)

It promises to be a very interesting end to the season for Matos and Huddersfield Town. A regular on the Chelsea bench in the first part of the season, the midfielder is now featuring regularly in West Yorkshire as Huddersfield look to beat the drop.

Andre Breitenreiter's men are currently in the final relegation place as things stand, just one point behind Birmingham City in 21st with three games to go. Town do have some huge home games coming up, including Swansea City on Saturday and relegation rivals Birmingham seven days later.

Matos has started 13 of his 16 appearances for Huddersfield, including last weekend in a 1-1 draw at Bristol City as they conceded a stoppage-time equaliser. It just backs up the Chelsea youngster's decision to speak to Pochettino and tell the boss that he wanted to depart on loan in January.

“Mauricio spoke to me a lot when I was at Chelsea,” said Matos in an interview with The Athletic. “I have a good relationship with him and his coaching staff. I had a meeting with him in his office — it was my decision to go see him — and told him I wanted to go out on loan in January.

“I needed first-team minutes, to go out and prove myself. I wasn’t nervous about telling him at all. I needed to do it for myself and it was the best decision. I wanted to be honest with him, to tell it to him straight. He accepted and understood. He wants what is best for me.”

Bashir Humphreys (Swansea City)

Humphreys has had to contend with a place on the bench of late after failing to play for Swansea City since coming off injured against Leeds United in February. Absent from the squad for a chunk of games in March, the defender has been named as a substitute in the past three fixtures but he has unfortunately not taken to the pitch.

Humphreys will be hoping that changes over the next three matches as his time in Wales will soon come to an end.

Harvey Vale (Bristol Rovers)

Vale will return to Chelsea this summer with more experience under his belt after making 45 appearances in all competitions for Bristol Rovers. The 20-year-old has registered three goals and six assists in that time, with his latest assist coming in last weekend's 3-1 win away at Cheltenham Town as he teed up teammate Elkan Baggott for their third goal of the afternoon.

Vale was one of League One's top five performers last weekend, with a WhoScored.com rating of 8.45 seeing him come fifth as Derby County's Sonny Bradley took top spot with a rating of 9.27. Vale has featured at left-back for Rovers in the past couple of games and that may be the case again this weekend when they host Peterborough United.

Tino Anjorin (Portsmouth)

Anjorin really has endured a difficult season despite his loan club Portsmouth sealing promotion to the Championship after winning the League One title. Getting a decent amount of minutes in the tank in the first part of the season, the midfielder then unfortunately found himself on the sidelines for five months after tearing his hamstring.

"It was heartbreaking not to be able to contribute more with this brilliant group," he told BBC Radio Solent in a recent interview. "The fact I was missing out on so much of this season was absolutely gutting for me."

Anjorin has returned to the pitch recently, with appearances in three of Pompey's last four games. The Chelsea youngster played the opening 45 minutes in Tuesday's thrilling 3-2 win over Barnsley that saw Portsmouth seal a return to the Championship for the first time since 2012.

More minutes should be there for Anjorin in Portsmouth's last two fixtures, with games against Wigan Athletic and Lincoln City to come.

Dion Rankine (Exeter City)

Staying in League One, Rankine has featured regularly for Exeter City since joining the Grecians on loan at the beginning of the season. The 21-year-old has 34 appearances to his name in all competitions, scoring one goal and registering one assist in that time.

Coming off the bench last Saturday to help Exeter recover from two goals down at the break to win 4-2 at Port Vale, the Chelsea youngster will be hoping his performance results in a start this weekend when they visit Northampton Town.

Lucas Bergstrom (Brommapojkarna)

After his time with Peterborough United in the 2022/23 season, Bergstrom is now playing his football in Sweden for Allsvenskan side Brommapojkarna. The shot-stopper has featured in four games for his new club so far in the 2024 season, keeping one clean sheet on the opening weekend of the Swedish league season following a 4-0 triumph away at GAIS.

Eddie Beach (Gateshead)

Beach has had to watch on from the stands recently with Gateshead not opting to have a goalkeeper as one of their five substitutes on a matchday. Although the National League season comes to an end on Saturday, Gateshead have qualified for the play-offs as they target a place in the EFL and they will also take part in the FA Trophy final against Solihull Moors at Wembley on Saturday, May 11. Beach has made five appearances for Gateshead so far.

Jamie Cumming (Oxford United)

Cumming has been a regular in the Oxford United goal since making the move to the League One club in January. Keeping three clean sheets in the past four games following big wins over Fleetwood Town, Burton Albion and Peterborough United, Oxford unfortunately slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Lincoln City in midweek.

Oxford are in the driving seat ahead of Lincoln and Blackpool for a play-off place, with a home showdown against Stevenage on Friday evening going to be key to their promotion hopes. Cumming has so far played in 18 games for the U's.

Kai Crampton (Concord Rangers)

Crampton has made two appearances for Concord Rangers since completing a loan move to the Isthmian League Premier Division club. Having made his debut against Dulwich Hamlet, he then featured last weekend against Hashtag United.
