Poldark star Aidan Turner has revealed that he is often groped by woman in public, but he doesn’t mind.

The actor, who has attracted many an admirer during his time on the BBC1 show, said he is OK with women crowding around him and getting a little “hands-on”, because he doesn’t fear for his safety.

Although, he admits a woman might feel differently if she were to be put in a similar situation with dozens of men.

Speaking to the Radio Times, he said: “If I go to a screening and 20 women come up and they want selfies, it can get a little hands on. But I never feel like my safety is in question.

“I don’t get scared, so it’s different. Whereas a woman might, if it happened with 20 guys crowding around her.

"I’m a man. It’s just not the same. I walk down the street, I don’t ever feel scared. There are women who feel scared every day.”

Turner will be returning as Captain Ross Poldark, who is known for taking his shirt off a lot, in the fifth and final series of the period drama on Sunday.

The actor also revealed that he and co-star Eleanor Tomlinson spent their final day of filming in bed together, although it wasn’t to film anything raunchy.

“The very last scene I shot was just myself and Eleanor in the bedroom,” he said. “So we spent the day in bed together, which was really strange.

“No love scenes or anything – just having a chat. All day just talking in bed, which felt right.

“I don’t think we planned it to be that day; it just happened with the scheduling. So that was really quite poignant. I think we were both thankful for that.”
