Missing teenager last seen near Roker Retail Park found, police confirm

A teenager who went missing from Sunderland has been found safe and well, police have confirmed.

Carl Mardghum, 17, had been missing since last being seen in the Roker Retail Park area on Tuesday July 9. Carl had not returned home since - and both his family and police officers had grown concerned for his welfare.

Late on Tuesday night, police confirmed that Carl had been found. Northumbria Police thanked everyone who had shared their appeal in their efforts to find him.

In June, ChronicleLive reported how a new task force set up by Northumbria Police has located over 1,400 missing vulnerable people this year alone. Northumbria Police’s Missing Persons Team was set up four months ago – with the team working closely with response officers to help trace and safeguard 1,435 people.
