Police call for witnesses after man suffers injuries in stabbing

Thames Valley Police are calling for witnesses to come forward after a man in his thirties was the victim of a stabbing in Reading.

The incident occurred at around 7:50pm on Tuesday, May 7 in the Audley Street area.

The man was rushed to hospital with lacerations to his head, cheek and side of his face and has since been released.

A 33-year-old man from Southall, Ealing was arrested on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and he remains in police custody.

Following the attack, armed officers attended the Royal Berkshire Hospital to safeguard the victim. This included eight members of the unit who blocked off the hospital entrance on Craven Road for over an hour.

Detective Inspector Stuart Streeter, said: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries into this incident.

“While we understand that this incident may increase concerns in the community, we believe this was an isolated incident and at this stage no further risks to the public have been identified.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen this incident or who has dash-cam, doorbell or phone footage from the area around the time that it happened, to please get in touch.
