Police cars rammed and van overturns after chase through town

A van rammed a number of police cars and then flipped over after being chased through a town.

Police were called to Ince in Wigan at 7.40am on Saturday (April 20) to reports of a man driving a van dangerously. Police pursued the van as they tried to bring it to a halt.

The van crashed and damaged a number of vehicles during the chase. It then stopped and rammed police vehicles on Kendal Road, Ince, before making off.

The van overturned on Holden Road. No members of the public were injured but two officers reported injuries and received medical treatment at the scene.

A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving without a licence, and driving whilst under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Enquiries are ongoing to identify a second man that officers believe was present in the vehicle.

Greater Manchester Police are appealing to any members of the public who may have witnessed this incident or have any information that could assist its enquiries. Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, mobile phone or doorbell footage, from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
