Police chase off-road bikers in Wollescote Park in day of action

OFF-road motorbike riding police were seen hot on the heels of two reckless riders in Stourbridge today as part of a police day of action.

The four-strong team were on patrol in Stevens Park, in Wollescote, which has been a hotspot for off-road bikers, as part of the day-long intensive policing exercise, Operation Advance, held on Friday June 28.

Upon spotting two off-roaders riding through the park, the team gave chase but after a brief pursuit the riders managed to flee.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police, however, said: “They managed to get away but we’re carrying out further patrols as a deterrent.

“Riding off-road bikes in an aggressive manner on roads, parks and other recreational spaces is disruptive and dangerous, and we know this antisocial behaviour upsets residents. That’s why we’re determined to tackle the problem.”

Information that could help police to get tough on perpetrators includes the name and address of the owner of the off-road motorbike, where the bike is stored, a description of the bike including colours and details on when and where the bike is being used including days, times and routes.
