Police find child with no seatbelt after driver went through red light

Police officers have slammed an uninsured driver who let their son sleep on the backseat without a seatbelt on. Officers say they spotted the vehicle after the driver went through a red light and drove at 47mph in a 30mph zone at around 1am this morning (May 9).

After officers stopped the car in Stockport, Greater Manchester, they discovered it had 'three bald tyres' and the driver had no insurance. They also realised the driver's son was lying on the back seat of the car asleep and didn't have a seatbelt on.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said the driver had been reported and the vehicle had been seized. They said: "This vehicle contravened a red traffic light, drove at 47mph in a 30mph zone, had 3 bald tyres and no insurance.

"The driver also failed to ensure her child was restrained correctly, letting him sleep on the back seats. Driver reported, vehicle seized and referrals submitted."
