Police Dismantle UC Santa Cruz Pro-Palestine Encampment and Arrest 'Dozens'

Police officers dismantled a pro-Palestine encampment on the University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC) campus Friday morning, May 31, reports said.

According to local media, police arrived at the encampment Thursday night and began dismantling tents at midnight.

X user @julayy_julayy said she filmed this video where protesters can be heard shouting “shame” at the police officers and chanting “free free Palestine!”

An officer told the Pajaronian dozens of people were arrested as of 4:30 am.

In a statement to CBS, a university spokesperson confirmed the university had taken action starting Friday morning to remove the encampment from its campus and said “many individuals” were arrested. Credit: @julayy_julayy via Storyful
