Police Find Pensioner ‘Killed By Islamic Terrorists’ At Home Having A Shave

A man who was believed to have been abducted and executed by Islamic terrorists was discovered safe and well at his home - while he was having a shave.

Pensioner Robert Hall was mistaken for a hostage beheaded by militants after his face was mistakenly plastered across the globe.

The retired prison officer from Dunstable, Bedforshire, shared the same name as a Canadian who was abducted alongside three others from a luxury island resort in the Philippines in September last year.

The terrorists demanded £5m for Mr Hall’s release and beheaded him last week when the money didn’t turn up in time.

Before his execution, pictures supposedly identifying Mr Hall were circulated around the globe, including on Sky News and CNN.

However, when friends and family of Mr Hall saw his face on TV, they raised the alarm and police tracked him down to his home while he was in the middle of a shave.

Dad-of-two Robert, 62, said: “It was bizarre but I’m alive and well…

"After he was beheaded I felt as though I had lost something in my life and it is not nice.

"I felt a cold chill across my spine when I found out he’d been killed.

"Back in September I thought how on earth has that happened. It seemed like a bit of a joke.

"How did people get that photo and how did they get it mixed up because he doesn’t even look like me.

"At the time I was concerned how they had got it mixed up. I felt violated.”

The actual hostage Robert Hall was tragically beheaded by his captors last week in the Philippines by Islamist militant group Abu Sayyaf after the ransom payment deadline passed.

His execution follows that of fellow Canadian hostage John Ridsdel on April 25 when the militants did not receive the requested ransom.
