A police helicopter was scrambled as a gang of teen boys were spotted with a BB gun on a field in Stoke-on-Trent. Eyewitnesses say a group of youths were taking pot shots at passing cars off Kidsgrove Road, Goldenhill, on Sunday evening (May 19).

It sparked a huge 999 response with the helicopter seen circling above Goldenhill, Sandyford and Kidsgrove after 8pm. Now Staffordshire Police are appealing for help to track down those responsible.

One of the suspects was described by officers as being of 'mixed-heritage' and he was wearing a red bandana, a black puffer jacket and black jogging bottoms. A second boy, described as white with blonde hair, was wearing a grey t-shirt.

The incident came as an unconnected fight broke out on Woodstock Road in Goldenhill, following a two-car collision which ended with a machete being seized.

A force spokesman said: "We are appealing for information after a group of teenage boys were seen with a suspected BB gun in Goldenhill. Officers were called to Kidsgrove Road just before 8pm on Sunday after the group were spotted.

"No-one was injured. Six teenage boys were seen in a nearby field in the area at the time of the incident. We are currently reviewing CCTV of the area at the time of the incident. If you have any information or relevant CCTV or dashcam footage that could help us, please get in touch."

Anyone with information should message Staffordshire Police on LiveChat via the force's website or call 101, quoting incident number 654 of May 19. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
