Police hunt for suspect after taxi driver attacked in Coventry

Police are hunting for a man after a taxi driver was left injured following an attack in Coventry. Officers said they want to speak to Artur Nowostawski.

Detectives said the victim picked a man up from Coventry Railway Station and drove to Bennetts Road South at around 9.30pm last Monday (April 29). Shortly before the end of the journey, the passenger 'attacked the driver, hitting him in the back and chest and demanding money', said Coventry Police.

Thankfully, the victim managed to escape but was left with arm and chest injuries. He is now recovering following treatment, said Coventry Police.

Nowostawski, who has links to Warwickshire and Leicestershire, is wanted on suspicion of wounding, said Coventry Police. Detectives have urged people not to approach the 40-year-old but instead call 999.

A spokesman for Coventry Police said: “Do you know where Artur Nowostawski is? He is wanted on suspicion of wounding after a taxi driver was assaulted in Coventry last Monday (April 29).

“We would ask people not to approach the 40-year-old, and call 999 immediately quoting crime number 20/446120/24.”
