Police issue major update after woman found dead in Droitwich home

Detectives have charged a man with murder after finding a woman dead inside a Droitwich home. The 49-year-old was sadly pronounced dead at a property in Chesnut Spinney at the start of the week.

Police said it became clear her injuries were "not survivable" when officers arrived at the address at around 4.10am on Monday, July 1. She died at the scene, with her death being treated as unexplained.

Now, West Mercia Police has charged Mohammed Samak, who lives in Chestnut Spinney, Droitwich Spa, with her murder. The 42-year-old has been remanded in police custody and is set to appear before Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Friday, July 5.

In an update issued tonight (July 4), the force wrote: "A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in Droitwich on Monday (1 July).

"Officers attended an address in Chesnut Spinney in Droitwich at around 4.10am after a woman was reported injured. A 49-year-old woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"Mohammed Samak, 42, of Chestnut Spinney in Droitwich Spa, is charged with murder and has been remanded to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (5 July)."

Police previously said her death was being treated as unexplained. Det Chief Insp Leighton Harding, senior investigating officer, said: “When officers arrived it became clear the woman’s injuries were not survivable, and she sadly died at the scene.

"Her death is currently being treated as unexplained. An investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances around her death." They added that their thoughts were with the woman's family "at this difficult time."
