Police have launched an investigation after the "unexplained" sudden death of a man. Emergency services, including the Coastguard, lifeboat crews, the ambulance service and a rescue helicopter, were called to Constitution Hill, Aberystwyth, in the early hours of Monday.

A Dyfed Powys Police statement said: “Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a man near to Constitution Hill, Aberystwyth on Monday, May 6. The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.”

A HM Coastguard Aberystwyth statement on Monday said: "HM Coastguard Aberystwyth tasked this morning at 0335hrs with colleagues from HM Coastguard Borth, Bad Achub Aberystwyth Lifeboat, Borth RNLI Lifeboat Station, Welsh Ambulance Service and Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 936 from Caernarfon to assist Dyfed-Powys Police with an incident in the Constitution Hill area. We were stood down at approximately 0600hrs and departed our station following debrief at 0700hrs."
