Police officer 'bitten' as four people arrested after attempted burglary at Birmingham home

Four people have been arrested after an attempted burglary at a home in Birmingham - and a police officer was assaulted. Police were called to a house in Hall Green in the early hours of Tuesday, May 22.

The window of the property was damaged before the suspects fled the area. Neighbours spotted them making off from the scene in a car.

Officers from West Midlands traced the vehicle and following a short pursuit, the car came to a stop in the Soho area. Four people ran from the car, before were detained in Foundry Road.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police confirmed all four were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary. Three men, aged 33, 22 and 22, and a 17 year old teenager remain in police custody.

The 33-year-old man was further arrested for assaulting an emergency worker after a police officer was bitten, the spokesman added.
