Police Operation Kills Strasbourg Shooting Suspect

Security forces killed the suspect in the shooting attack at a Christmas Market in Strasbourg, France, after an exchange of gunfire in the Meinau quarter of the city on Thursday, December 13.

Police forces recognized the suspect, who had been identified as Cherif Chekatt, 29, as he exited a building on Rue de Lazaret, according to French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner. When officers signaled to the suspect to surrender, he shot at police and was killed when police returned fire. He had been sheltering in a warehouse at Plaine des Boucher in Strasbourg, according to FranceInfo.
