Police race to Edinburgh Morrison's store after terrifying robbery in car park

Edinburgh officers are investigating after a robbery at a busy Morrisons store on Friday morning.

Police were made aware of the incident on Waterfront Broadway in Granton at around 7.50am on June 21. Edinburgh Live understands that the robbery took place within the car park. It is not yet confirmed whether any injuries were sustained or how many people were involved.

Police have since confirmed that inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. However, the details of what was stolen have not been disclosed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7.50am on Friday, 21 June, 2024 officers were made aware of a robbery at a premises on Waterfront Broadway, Edinburgh.

"Enquiries are ongoing."

Morrison's have also confirmed they are assisting police with their inquiries. A spokesperson of the supermarket said: "There was an isolated incident outside the store so the police were called on site and we are now assisting the police with their inquiry."
