Police Report 'Disorder' at London St George's Day Event

Police in London said there were scenes of “disorder” involving the crowd gathered to mark St George’s Day in Westminster on Tuesday, April 23.

In video from the Metropolitan Police, a crowd, many draped in the flag of St George, are seen pushing against a line of police officers.

The Met said its officers were “regrettably…dealing with disorder” at Whitehall. The crowd had gone past the agreed area allocated for the event and walked up Whitehall, police said.

“When officers formed a cordon and asked the group to turn round, they reacted by violently forcing their way through. Mounted officers intervened with horses to restore the cordon,” the Met said. Credit: Metropolitan Police via Storyful
