Vehicles have been towed away while drivers have been hit with fines for a range of traffic offences across Holmfirth.

West Yorkshire Police said seven vehicles had been given tickets in Holmfirth for causing an obstruction in the town centre, while one untaxed and uninsured vehicle on Huddersfield Road was towed away. The crackdown on Saturday, May 18, was carried out by officers with the Kirklees Rural team.

Meanwhile, over in Holmbridge, police officers took action by seizing two vehicles for not having the right paperwork.

The crackdown in Holmbridge, on May 15, saw one vehicle seized for having no tax, along with no insurance or MOT.

A second was seized for causing an obstruction, while also having no tax, MOT or insurance.

Similar crackdowns on cars 'pavement parkers' have taken place in Crosland Moor and Thornton Lodge this year, as well as in Woodhead Road, Holmfirth. A number of fines - believed to be £50 - have been handed out to drivers.

Earlier this month, Holme Valley councillor Charles Greaves called for more parking provision. He and many others have been campaigning against parking charges being brought in at village car parks that are currently free to park in.
