Police step up plain clothes patrols after two injured by pellets fired from BB gun

Police are staging plain clothes patrols after two people were hit with pellets fired from a BB gun in Shirley. The first victim was struck by a pellet as he walked on Haslucks Green Road, around 4pm on Sunday, April 21.

Then on Monday at around 8pm on Green Lane, a second patient was injured. In both incidents a BB gun was believed to have been fired from a vehicle.

Police are laying on extra patrols in a bid to catch the offender. CCTV is also being sought.

Sgt Adrian Mills, from the Shirley Neighbourhood Team, said: “While it is not illegal to own a BB gun, firing one at a person as well as carrying one in public to cause alarm and distress, is.

“CCTV enquiries are underway and we have spoken to a number of witnesses. We have stepped up both plain-clothed and uniformed patrols in and around the area to offer reassurance to the community.
