Police swarm Leeds street as man's body found on Elland Road

Police swarmed a Leeds street after a man's body was found on land nearby.

West Yorkshire Police attended Elland Road in Churwell after the discovery was made at 3.10pm yesterday (Wednesday, June 20). A concern for safety report was initially made to the force.

Paramedics sadly confirmed the man had died. Crime scene investigators erected a tent and were investigating the scene well into the evening.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and the man is believed to have died from a 'medical episode'.

A resident said: "There was a white tent over the body and a lot of police presence! It was close to the car garage at the bottom of Churwell Hill."

A force spokesperson said: "Police were called to reports of concern for safety after a man’s body was found on land close to Elland Road, Churwell, at 3.10pm yesterday.

"Ambulance colleagues confirmed that the man had died. The death is not being treated as suspicious and is believed to be the result of a medical episode."
