Police warn key safe thefts are on the rise after spate of burglaries

Police are advising people to check their home security after a spate of key safe box thefts in Romsey.

The force has warned that key safe box thefts are on the rise in the area after a number of key safe-related incidents in the last few weeks.

Recent key safe related incidents include: 

On Sunday, March 24, at around 2.30am, a key safe was removed from the wall of a house in Hestia Close.

The property was accessed and a car was then stolen from the driveway.

Sometime between 11.30pm on April 11 and 8am on April 12, an address in Portersbridge Street was accessed.

Car keys were taken and the car was stolen.

A key safe is used to store keys outside a property (Image: NQ)Between 10pm on April 22 and 7.30am on April 23, a key safe at an address in Middlebridge Street was damaged, and the property accessed.

Four coats were stolen and then discarded outside the address.

Sometime between 3.15pm on April 22 and 8.30am on April 23, a car was stolen from the driveway of an address in Middlebridge Street.

On the night of Thursday, April 25, a lockbox was removed from the wall of a property in Cherville Street.

Keys were stolen from inside the address.

Also on April 25, a key safe was damaged at a property in Crescent Road, North Baddesley, and tools were stolen.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We would like to reassure you that officers are carrying out a number of enquiries into these incidents, including CCTV enquiries.

"Anyone with information about any of these incidents should contact us by calling the 101, quoting the relevant crime reference number."
