Police warning after large car meet planned for Essex
Three areas of Essex have been covered by a police dispersal order after police intelligence suggested a large car meet could be planned. Essex Police said the dispersal order over Chelmsford, Maldon and Braintree would give officers increased powers.
The orders are in place from 5pm on Saturday (May 4) to 5am on Sunday (May 6). Officers will be able to direct anyone suspected of causing anti-social behaviour to leave the area or face being arrested.

Inspector Philip Jackson said: "We know real issues have been caused for people living nearby during past events of this nature. This includes concerns arising over the noise and nature of the driving during these events.
"We’ve also previously seen collisions, crime and disorder take place as a consequence, as well as roads blocked while races take place – causing serious risk to all involved. Taking this action will hopefully prevent the event from taking place but gives officers the power to direct anyone believed to be taking part to leave the area to ensure the safety of the public using our roads."
