Ready for more from Las Encinas? Netflix's beloved Spanish teen drama is returning for a seventh season and has enlisted Brazillian pop star Anitta to appear on season 7.

The "Envolver" and “Boys Don’t Cry” singer announced the news on social media. “A girl from Rio you may already know… is about to make an entrance at Las Encinas. Anitta is joining the [Élite season seven] cast.”

It's not clear why Anitta is joining the cast, especially since she's 30 years old and wouldn't exactly fit in with the high schoolers, but rumors are circulating that her storyline will relate to Iván since they are both Brazillian. Spoiler alert, the character died last season in a hit-and-run. Perhaps Anitta's character is related to Iván and is investigating his death? Or perhaps she'll just make a cameo and appear in a special performance?

Looks like we'll just wait and see.

Élite, an LGBTQ+ inclusive drama, features a rotating cast of Spanish actors across seasons. Netflix's current cast for the show is André Lamoglia, Valentina Zenere, Álvaro de Juana, Carmen Arrufat, Álex Pastrana, Ana Bokesa, Ander Puig, Nadia Al Saidi, and Omar Ayuso, though it's not clear if that will change as a few of those characters have died, and Ayuso specifically wasn't seen in season 6. Fan favorite Manu Rios has already confirmed that this past season was his last.

“I believe that everything that begins has its end,” he said. “As an actor, you want to do different things, and although ‘Elite’ has been an incredible experience and I am very grateful for everything it has brought, there are also times when it is necessary to go from stage to stage, change pages, and do other things.”

The newest season will welcome Mirela Balić, Fernando Líndez, Gleb Abrosimov, Iván Mendes, Alejandro Albarracín, Maribel Verdú, and Leonardo Sbaraglia.
