'Popcorn Showers' Impact Parts of Washington

Snow showers moved through Everett, Washington, on Monday, March 4, footage shows.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Seattle said ‘popcorn showers’ were developing in south Puget Sound and that the heaviest showers were able to drop graupel.

The showers were expected to continue into the afternoon and evening, it said.

Popcorn showers are small, brief, weak storms which grow and die within an hour can can produce brief heavy rain and lightning, according to the NWS.
