Popular artists returning for July Dancing Rabbit

Apr. 20—Run, Rabbit run.

Two of the outstanding acts from the 2023 Dancing Rabbit Music Festival are returning for this year's July 27 show in downtown McAlester.

Cody Canada and the Departed are coming back to McAlester for a return engagement following the group's enthusiastically-received performance at the Dancing Rabbit Music Festival's Red Dirt music show last year.

Also returning to McAlester for the July 27 2024 show is the Austin, Texas band, Good Looks, who also performed during the 2023 DRMF series.

Two more acts are also set to perform on the outdoor stage at the 2024 show.

ROZ, who has also previously performed in McAlester will be returning, along with Five Year Gap.

All of the shows are once again presented free of charge at the Dancing Rabbit Music Festival stage in downtown McAlester, along Choctaw Avenue between Third and Fifth Streets.

Dancing Rabbit Music Festival President Blake Lynch is enthusiastic about the lineup for the July 27 show.

"Although Cody played at our Red Dirt show, he wants to do some rock 'n' roll," Lynch said of Cody Canada, adding that the July 27 show will give the former Cross Canadian Ragweed frontman an opportunity to do so.

Lynch is also glad to see Good Looks returning for another performance.

"Good Looks is almost coming the official house band for Dancing Rabbit," said Lynch. "As long as they're excited to come back, we're excited to have them."

With shows set for May 11, June 15, July 27 and Nov. 9 — all on Saturdays— this year's series of Dancing Rabbit Music Festival concerts feature diverse acts, ranging from established artists to rising stars.

Entertainers for the May 11 show are The White Buffalo, along with Oklahoma natives Wade Hayes and Autumn Ragland.

Featured on the June 15 show is Amythyst Kiah, a Grammy-nominated artist who has won praise for her performance at the Americana Music Awards show in Nashville.

Also set for the June 15 show are Eddie 9-V, who brings a rocking, good time sound to his sets, and EG Vines, who will bring his rocking style of music to McAlester for the Dancing Rabbit Music Fest.

Artists for the Nov. 9 show will be announced at a later date — with a special surprise in store for the November finale.
