A popular Edinburgh restaurant has announced their sudden closure, much to the disappointment of locals.

The team behind Hau Han in the Haymarket area shared the news on social media that they would be closing up on Friday, June 28. They thanked loyal visitors for their support over the last five years.

Followers branded it the "best Chinese in Edinburgh", and wished the team the best.

Posting to Instagram, the team said: "Hey everyone, we have some bittersweet news.

"After five amazing years, we’ve decided it’s time to close the doors at Hau Han. We're so grateful for all your support and the great times we've shared over the years.

"Our last evening of service will be this Friday, June 28. Thanks for everything, and if you need a Hau Han fix before we go we hope to see you during the week!"

One follower commented: "Sad to hear this - best Chinese in Edinburgh! All the best."
