Defender Nuno Tavares says he has received some transfer offers on the back of his spell at Nottingham Forest.

The Portuguese left-back spent last season on loan at the City Ground from Arsenal but managed just 12 appearances as he was hampered by injury. His Reds deal included “future options” but, as with Forest’s other loanees from last term, a permanent switch is not on the cards.

Nevertheless, Tavares could still be on the move this summer. He says his focus is currently on linking back up with the Gunners, but it seems heading elsewhere has not been ruled out.

"My priority is to return to Arsenal. Then, there, only the future will tell", Tavares told Desporto Ao Minuto (via Sky Sports).

"Everyone knows that I have another year on my contract with Arsenal. I have people I trust taking care of my future. There have been some approaches, but I always leave it to whoever is in charge of taking care of my future."

The Reds also had Gio Reyna, Gonzalo Montiel, Divock Origi and Rodrigo Ribeiro on loan last season. In all but the case of Reyna, the deals included the potential to make their moves permanent.

However, the loanees didn’t quite make the impact it was hoped they would and all have returned to their parent clubs. In the case of Tavares, he competed with Ola Aina and Harry Toffolo for the left-back spot. Both Aina and Toffolo remain on the books, while Neco Williams is also capable of playing there and Omar Richards is still a Reds player despite still awaiting his debut for the club.
