Possible future James Bond Tom Hiddleston reveals his three favorite Bond films

It’s the question everyone’s been asking Tom Hiddleston: What’s up with you and James Bond? But the I Saw the Light star seems to know about as much as we do.

“Honestly, I don’t know,” Hiddleston told us when he stopped by Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105). “Apart from the fact that people have watched The Night Manager and started to throw my name around in that conversation, I really think that’s it.“

Of course, anyone that has seen The Night Manager — in which Hiddleston plays a hotel employee turned undercover spy — knows why the actor’s name is suddenly being bandied about. Hiddleston is electric in the series, which has aired in the U.K. and starts here in America on April 19 courtesy of AMC.

How does Hiddelston feel about all the Bond chatter? “Of course it’s flattering when people float that idea, because as a child growing up in Britain, Bond is the center of your world,” he says. “I grew up with Sean Connery and Roger Moore, and BBC used to run those movies on Saturday night and it was all we talked about on the playground Monday morning. So it’s very strange to be in that conversation.”

So does the possible future James Bond have a favorite Bond film? It turns out he has three! “Off the top of my head, probably I could say my top three are From Russia With Love, Live and Let Die, and Casino Royale. … If I could take one to a desert island, it would probably be From Russia With Love.”
