Powerful Winds Startle Medellin Residents

Powerful winds battered Medellin, Colombia, startling some residents awake on the night of March 18 to 19.

Seven trees fell down due to the force of the wind and three roofs were damaged in the city during the night, the Disaster Risk Management Department said.

“How strong the wind was tonight in Medellin, it literally woke me up with a fright,” William Rodriguez wrote. “It almost blew out the windows and knocked down the trees, it felt like a gale but without rain, a very rare phenomenon.” Credit: WilliamRodriguezR via Storyful
