Premier League chief executive Richard Masters has reportedly chosen to attend Arsenal's final game of the season against Everton, missing out on Manchester City's home clash with West Ham.

Masters was at the Etihad last season when City were crowned champions but this time around, Premier League chair Alison Brittain is expected to be in attendance, instead. City sit top of the table, two points ahead of Arsenal, in second.

Pep Guardiola's team defeated Tottenham 2-0 in midweek, in what was their game in hand over the Gunners. Arsenal supporters will be hoping that the Hammers can do them a favour by beating City at the Etihad Stadium.

If Arsenal win and City draw, then the title will be decided on goal difference with Mikel Arteta's side having the advantage. If City are defeated, Arsenal will win the league by one point.

City, who are targeting their fourth Premier League title in a row, could become the first team to achieve the feat. Ahead of the final day, Guardiola said: "I don't think any competitive football player or manager is numb and relaxed, saying: 'It doesn't matter'. Of course we know what we are playing for.

"It is like a quarter-final, semi-final second-leg Champions League or FA Cup. It is something you can't get back so it's simple. Win OK. Lose, bye, bye. So not very complicated."

According to the Athletic, Masters will not be present and will avoid the scenario of presenting City with the trophy should they get over the line.
