‘The Price Is Right’: Contestant Triumphs By Making An Almost Perfect Showcase Bid

A Canada man set another milestone on The Price is Right Friday by almost guessing the exact total of the day’s showcase.

During the taped episode of the CBS game show, Patrice Masse from Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada bid $39,500 for a prize package valued at $39,501. His near-perfect guess made him a double showcase winner, earning him a grand total of $83,068 in prizes.

A stupefied Drew Carey dubbed it “the best showcase bid in the history of the show, in my opinion.” The host also reminded viewers that Masse had “absolutely no help from anybody in the audience.”

Any contestant whose bid comes within $250 of the total automatically wins both showcases. Items in Masse’ winnings include a brand new Kia K5 GT-Line, luxury trips to Milan, Italy, Hawaii, and Miami, and designer apparel from Versace, Gucci and Coach.

In 2008, a contestant named Terry Kneiss won the double showcase by making a perfect bid of $23,743 dollars. There have also been players who have come within $10 or less of the total showcase price.

Needless to say, Masse’ wife Tina was over the moon and couldn’t wait to get on stage to view her largesse.

The Price is Right is produced by Fremantle and broadcast weekdays on CBS.
