Pride Cymru 2024: Parade details, stage times, how to get there, road closures, where to park and more

June is Pride month and Cardiff is celebrating in style with the brilliant Pride Cymru. Taking place on Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23 the Welsh capital is set to see 50,000 people celebrating everything LGBTQ+.

This year is 25 years since the first Cardiff Mardi Gras was held. Organisers say the 2023 event saw over 50,000 people interact with Pride Cymru, generating an estimated £ 1.2 million in economic activity in Cardiff over the course of the weekend.

There is lots to enjoy - from a fantastic parade to musical performances taking place in the grounds of Cardiff Castle. With so much going on, here's everything you need to know about Pride Cymru 2024.

Pride Cymru 2024 parade details

Kicking off at 11am the amazing parade will take place on Saturday, June 22. The route is along Westgate Street, Castle Street, High Street, St Mary Street, Mill Lane, the Hayes, Working Street, Queen Street, Park Place and Greyfriars Road.

Entertainment kicks off in Cardiff Castle at noon on Saturday, June 22. On the main stage, ITV Wales news presenter Carl Edwards, actor Paul Davies, Big Brother star Chanelle and actor Stifyn Parri will be the hosts.

Performers on the main stage will include headliners Vengaboys, Ultrabeat, the House Gospel Choir, Donna Maria as Lady Gaga, Miss Kitty, Polly Amarous and more.

There will also be the S4C community stage where Paul and Stifyn will also host. The event is running until 10.30pm on Saturday, with last entry at 9.30pm. Want less ads? Download WalesOnline’s Premium app on Apple or Android.

On Sunday, June 23 gates will open at 11am and the event ends at 9.30pm. Paul and Stifyn return to host the main stage, alongside the cast of BBC One medical drama Casualty and Paul will also be joined by Diana D to host the S4C community stage.

Jake Shears is headlining the main stage on Sunday and Heather Small is also performing. Victoria Scone, Danny Beard, Bronwen Lewis, Sarah Jayne as Shania Twain, Dixie Normous and more will also take to the stage.

How to get to Pride Cymru 2024 and where to park

Taking place in Cardiff city centre, there are plenty of ways to get to Pride Cymru. You can get the train to Cardiff Queen Street or Cardiff Central and then it is just a short walk to Cardiff Castle.

If you are driving there are many car parking options and Pride Cymru recommends parking in and around the law courts and the National Museum of Wales, which is pay and display car parking. There is also lots of parking in the city centre including North Road Car Parks, St David's Shopping Centre, John Lewis, Capitol Shopping Centre, and NCP (Adam Street, Dumfries Place and Greyfriars Road). There will also be local bus services running including Cardiff Bus.

Road closures for Pride Cymru 2024

From 6am until midnight on Saturday, June 22 Castle Street from the junction with Westgate Street and Duke Street will be closed. Find out about the latest events in Wales by signing up to our What's On newsletter here.

From 8am until 2.30pm on Saturday, June 22 the following roads will be closed: Westgate Street, Quay Street, Guildhall Place, Golate, Cowbridge Road East to the junction with Cathedral Road, High Street, St Mary Street, Wood Street, Central Square, Park Street, Havelock Street and Scott Road, Lower St Mary's Street, Mill Lane, The Hayes, John Street, Queen Street, Park Place, Greyfairs Road - from the junction with Boulevard De Nantes through to Kingsway and the Hilton Hotel Junction.

There will be further restrictions and access on these roads: Scott Road, Lower Westgate Street, and Wood Street will be maintained where and as long as possible. The council are aiming to open Westgate Street and the side roads between midday and 12.30pm, or until the crowds disperse.

Fitzhammon Embankment will have restrictions in place to facilitate the buses, so parking will be restricted. Greyfriars Road from Boulevard towards Park Place will be maintained one way.
