Primary school celebrates 'Good' Ofsted rating as 'strong sense of values' praised

Hunts Grove Primary Academy in Hardwicke has been given an overall rating of 'Good' by Ofsted following its recent inspection. The report notes 'class reading time is a highlight of the day', and 'a strong sense of values permeates the school'.

The school is celebrating the results and how the Ofsted inspection highlighted the school's numerous strengths and successes. Along with acknowledging its commitment to providing an outstanding educational experience for its pupils.

Ofsted noted the curriculum has a particular focus is placed on promoting reading, which is at the heart of the curriculum. There is a well-sequenced curriculum in reading, writing and mathematics. and the teaching of phonics is effective.

In some subjects however, such as geography, the full curriculum is not yet embedded. The report states the curriculum does not consistently support pupils to understand how subject-specific ideas develop or how they can be used to gain a deeper understanding.

The inspection took place on 19th and 20th March 2024. The following judgements were made:

● Leadership and management: Outstanding

● Early years provision: Good

Headteacher, Glenn Philcox said: "We are very proud of our school and are delighted by the Ofsted judgement. It has taken a lot of hard work and dedication by a lot of people to make Hunts Grove the school it is. We are looking forward to our school continuing to flourish and grow as it serves the community of Hunts Grove.”

The quality of leadership and management and leadership of the under Headteacher Glenn Philcox, has been described as exceptional by Ofsted. Hunts Grove Primary Academy staff are proud to be part of the school and roles and responsibilities are clearly delegated and understood.

Trust leaders and school governors have a clear vision. They play an active and effective role in securing a good quality of education for all pupils. Staff’s roles and responsibilities are clearly delegated and understood.

They receive high-quality professional development. This equips them to teach the curriculum effectively. Teachers who are new to the profession have strong support.

The primary school is committed to providing a caring and inclusive environment for all students. Precise strategies are implemented to ensure that pupils with SEND reach ambitious goals and receive the assistance they require.
