Amazon's Prime Video social media has sparked a host of speculation that A League of Their Own is getting a second season.

The first season of the sports-themed comedy drama dropped all eight episodes of its first season back in August to a positive reception from fans (and strong reviews, including Digital Spy's), but there's no been no news about a sophomore run — good or bad — from the streamer since then.

A tweet from the official account featured a GIF from the show with the caption "Spring Training is officially underway!"

The replies to this tweet were full of people asking if this was confirmation that a second season was confirmed, since the wording of the tweet does make it seem like it could be referring to the cast rehearsing or refreshing their baseball skills.

However, Deadline reports that the tweet was just referring to the actual MLB spring training games that took place over the weekend, no doubt disappointing fans. It doesn't mean that a second season won't happen, though. We just don't know either way at this point.

Actress Abbi Jacobson, who is also known for co-creating Broad City, spoke out against people who were critical of the World War II-era show's inclusion of queer characters and people of colour, stating that the show is true to life, even if the media of the time didn't reflect that.

"I have seen a lot of people angry and mad at our inclusion of more experiences (POC, QWOC, queer) and that anger (aka fear) has only made me more sure about why this reimagining needed to be made," she said. "Why representation matters so much."

"In terms of sexuality, bc things were so secretive, there was less written in the time. Roey Thorpe's incred. oral histories of queer and non-binary people who lived in the mid-west in the 40s-70s was an important resource. All of this our writer's real experiences [sic]."

A League of Their Own is streaming on Prime Video.
