James Wessex, the Earl of Wessex, raised eyebrows with his amusing tie selection during his recent Easter Sunday outing in Windsor.

The son of Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie looked sharp in a navy blue suit as he joined the rest of the Royal Family for the annual Easter Mattins service at St George's Chapel.

Beneath his navy suit, James sported a crisp white shirt. However, it was his humorous tie that truly grabbed everyone's attention - a choice that his uncle, King Charles, would undoubtedly approve of.

The monarch is renowned for his penchant for novelty and patterned ties to inject some pizzazz or a hidden message into his outfits.

Charles famously wore a tie featuring a Greek flag design at Cop28 last year following a diplomatic spat between Britain and Greece, OK! reports.

He has also been spotted donning his infamous pink tie embellished with a light blue tyrannosaurus rex pattern - a cheeky reference to his nickname derived from his insignia, Charles Rex.

Meanwhile, the Earl of Wessex opted for a turquoise blue tie adorned with white bunnies.

The Down A Rabbit Hole Print Silk Tie is a product of British menswear retailer Charles Tyrwhitt and is priced at a very reasonable £34.95 but is currently sold out.

His father also chose a navy blue tie, affectionately referred to as his 'Easter favourite' by many, which was decorated with pink chicks.

Royal enthusiasts were quick to praise the young royal's charming fashion choice, sharing their thoughts on social media.

One user remarked: "This tie is adorable! ! ! " while another added: "But it's cute and appropriate for Easter."

A third agreed with these sentiments, stating: "It is and I am so happy to see him wearing a whimsical tie, much like his father and uncle."

Meanwhile, a fourth fan humorously announced: "James now officially included in #TheRoyalFunkyTiesClub! (sic)".

James, 16, isn't expected to take on senior royal duties in the future, instead likely to enjoy his youth and potentially follow his sister, Lady Louise, to university.

Speaking to OK!, Jennie Bond said: "James is currently gearing up for the first big test of his school life....his GCSE's. Like most 16 year olds, it's a tough time for him - although it's unlikely that his results will be made public.

"That's in tune with the rest of his upbringing where his parents have tried very hard to allow James as normal an upbringing as possible - given his heritage. And, by and large, they have succeeded."

On the topic of his future, Jennie continued: "I think we can expect James to follow his ambitions and not necessarily take the traditional royal route of military service.

"He will probably try for University and then work out a career path. He can draw on the experience of his royal cousins, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, who have made their own way."
