Prince George's private tennis lessons with Wimbledon hero Roger Federer thanks to mum Kate

Prince George could be a future Wimbledon winner if tennis superstar Roger Federer has his way.

The icon once detailed a private coaching session with the young royal, who started swinging a racket at just five years old.

His mother, Kate Middleton is praised for her sporting enthusiasm and supports numerous significant sporting bodies including the Rugby Football Union and Wimbledon's All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC).

As their patron, the Princess of Wales makes regular appearances at Wimbledon, often captured applauding and rooting from the royal box, OK! reports.

Federer once disclosed details of his visit to the Middleton household to coach Prince George himself so it's pretty safe to say the young heir has inherited his mother's passion for tennis.

The Princess would have no doubt scored significant mum points after arranging the personal tuition for her eldest son with the ex-pro player.

Federer recounted the occasion, proclaiming: "At that stage it's all about just touching the ball, it's already good. Same with my boys."

On asking how he reacted knowing the prince admires him, the tennis legend revealed it puts him at an 'advantage'.

He explained: "I think I have a little advantage that I actually spent some time, you know, with him."

"I'm the only player he's ever met. Then you have a little head start in who is your favourite player."

The 20-time Grand Slam champion had a hit with young George back in 2019 during a visit to the Middleton family home, owned by Kate's parents Carole and Michael Middleton. The tennis legend fondly recalled George as a "sweet boy".

Kate, a keen tennis enthusiast and patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, has forged a friendship with the ace over the years.

The future Queen has been a regular at Wimbledon since she became part of the Royal family in 2011, often seen relishing the summer's thrilling matches alongside her husband William, the Prince of Wales, and their two eldest children, Prince George, 10, and nine-year-old Princess Charlotte.

In her role, the mother-of-three has had the privilege of awarding trophies to tennis greats such as Novak Djokovic, Marketa Vondrousova, and Elena Rybakina.

As the club's patron, it is customary for Kate to grace the men's and women's finals, presenting the esteemed trophies to both champions and finalists.

Last year, the popular royal joined forces with Roger Federer ahead of the iconic tennis event to showcase the dedicated efforts of the "amazingly professional" Wimbledon ball boys and girls.

Kensington Palace captured the moment with a professionally shot video featuring Kate and Roger on the court.

Kate's passion for tennis extends beyond spectating; she's frequently been seen playing the sport with her children at the prestigious Hurlingham Club in London.

OK! magazine reported in 2019 that the Duchess has long been bringing her older children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, to the exclusive club.

A source revealed to the publication: "Kate has been at Hurlingham a lot over the summer. She takes all the kids."

"There's a gorgeous playground they all love, and George and Charlotte have tennis lessons. They all pile into the clubhouse afterwards for lunch or tea and they're never bothered, they're just like any normal family. They all seem to really love it there."
