Prince Harry is preparing himself for a "final goodbye" to royal life in the UK next month as he's finally had the "last straw" with his family, according to an expert.

It was revealed last week that the Duke of Sussex has changed his primary residence from the United Kingdom to the United States on official documents with the change being backdated to June 29, 2023.

It's likely to be no coincidence that on that same day Buckingham Palace confirmed that the Sussexes' had vacated their former residence of Frogmore Cottage in England at the King's request after he demanded the keys back to the property.

Back in March 2023, a couple of month's after the duke's tell-all memoir Spare hit bookshelves, it was revealed that the monarch had ordered his son and his wife Meghan Markle to vacate Frogmore Cottage.

A royal expert says that this decision left Harry "furious", so much so that it's been claimed that the prince's return to the UK for an event next month will be his final "goodbye" to his former homeland, Aberdeen Live reports.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Royal expert and author Tom Quinn said: "Harry is scheduled to speak at St Paul's Cathedral in London on May 8 to mark the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games.

"The Games were founded by Harry when he was still a working royal so pressure isn't being brought to bear to make him give it up now".

He added: "But even if Harry begged to be allowed back to help out - even if his father King Charles became so ill he was unable to carry out his duties - whatever happens, the call to help will never go out to Montecito. Making the US his primary residence is Harry's final goodbye."

Following this, Mr Quinn told the publication that Harry had finally reached his breaking point when he and Meghan were ordered to leave Frogmore Cottage.

He said: "At the time, few people realised what a slap in the face the eviction from Frogmore felt like for Harry it was the last straw."
