Prince Harry Does Not Want to See an On-Screen Portrayal of His Life on 'The Crown'

From Harper's BAZAAR

  • Prince Harry revealed to the author of his official biography that he prefers his life not be documented on-screen for Netflix’s The Crown.

  • “I’m going to make sure I stop it before they get to me,” Harry reportedly said.

Don’t expect to see the Sussex storyline play out on a future season of The Crown. According to E! News, Prince Harry has expressed his adamancy in making sure the mega-popular Netflix series doesn’t portray his and wife Duchess Meghan’s relationship and tabloid turmoil for the television screen. The couple has dominated the headlines for weeks since the announcement of their official stepping down as senior members of the royal family.

During an interview on BBC Breakfast, the author of the 2018 book Harry: A Biography of a Prince, Angela Levin, shared with the morning show how the Duke of Sussex expressed his desire to “stop” the show before it ever had the chance to portray his life.

“Harry, when I went to interview him in the palace, the first thing he said to me when he shook my hand was, ‘Are you watching The Crown?’” explained Levin. “And I hadn’t been at the time, I felt very embarrassed, and I got it, and he said, ‘I’m going to make sure I stop it before they get to me.’”

As it looks now, Harry and Meghan may not have to worry at all about an on-screen portrayal—based on an interview with The Crown’s executive producer, Suzanne Mackie, on BBC, the series most likely won’t continue far enough to showcase modern-day royal goings-on.

“To be honest, whatever the life of The Crown is after where we are now, I doubt we’ll ever go as far into the present day,” she commented. “I think we’ll probably—we won’t travel into the present day.”
