Prince Harry's trial against News Group Newspapers is set to begin next week. The Duke of Sussex will be given “limited police protection,” according to new reports, despite Harry losing his case for police protection.

“Prince Harry inherited a security risk at birth, for life,” a spokesperson said back in 2022. “He remains sixth in line to the throne, served two tours of combat duty in Afghanistan, and in recent years his family has been subjected to well-documented neo-Nazi and extremist threats. While his role within the Institution has changed, his profile as a member of the Royal Family has not. Nor has the threat to him and his family… The Duke and Duchess of Sussex personally fund a private security team for their family, yet that security cannot replicate the necessary police protection needed whilst in the UK. In the absence of such protection, Prince Harry and his family are unable to return to his home.”

A source told The Mirror that Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has agreed to provide Prince Harry with armed officers from the Royalty and Specialist Protection Command on his trip. They also reported Prince Harry was offered a place to stay at Buckingham Palace, but turned it down.

On the Duke of Sussex's last trip to the UK, he stayed at Althorp House, the childhood home of his mother, Princess Diana, which now belongs to his uncle, Charles Spencer. In 2023, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were “requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage,” the home they lived in after their wedding. The two were gifted the home by Queen Elizabeth, and refurbished the property through the Sovereign Grant, though subsequently repaid the cost.
