Prince Harry sends 'symbolic message' to the Royal Family with one huge move

Prince Harry appears to have made a "symbolic" gesture towards the Royal Family by timing a significant personal change on the same date he vacated Frogmore Cottage, according to a royal expert.

The Duke of Sussex officially left the Windsor residence on June 29, which has remained unoccupied since then, the Express reports.

Documents filed in April disclosed that Prince Harry, using his full title Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex, declared the United States as his usual place of residence starting from June 29, 2023 - coinciding with the announcement from Buckingham Palace about the departure from Frogmore Cottage.

Speaking to Sky News Australia's Royal Report, commentator Esther Krakue observed: "It's very interesting that Prince Harry chose to date his official US residency on the day he was kicked out of Frogmore Cottage."

Krakue further commented: "I think he was trying to send a message and it was very symbolic and I think the biggest message here is that it represents everything that could have been and is not and has been lost. Potentially it represents what actually should never have been."

Harry and his wife Meghan Markle formerly stayed in Frogmore Cottage with their son Prince Archie before they stepped down from the Royal Family in 2020.

The Sussexes were gifted the property from the late Queen Elizabeth II on their wedding day and undertook an extensive independent renovation of the residence after initial public funding sparked controversy, resulting in them fully reimbursing the expenditure.

However, King Charles made the decision to evict his son and daughter in law from their former abode and they were forced to hand back the keys, leaving them homeless in the UK.

Harry and Meghan currently reside in their £12m Montecito mansion in California which boasts nine bedrooms.

The parents-of-two live there with their two children, Prince Archie, 5, and their daughter, Princess Lilibet who they welcomed in 2021.
