Prince William is showing off his (environmentally-friendly) stylish side!

On Thursday, June 27, William, 42, spoke at the Breakthrough Energy Summit as part of London Climate Action Week. The Prince of Wales gave a powerful speech celebrating the innovators, entrepreneurs and businesspeople who are working together to find solutions to the Earth's climate crisis, while also showcasing his commitment to sustainability with an eco-friendly tie.

For the occasion, the prince sported a green tie with a floral motif made from recycled plastic. The tie was made by the Italian brand Wilmok, and the snazzy statement piece is also affordable, retailing at $50 on the brand's official site.

When it comes to style, William usually leaves the true standout fashion moments to his wife Kate Middleton. However, he has, on occasion, gotten adventurous with his own outfit choices, too. But for the prince, the best fashion statement is a subtle one.

Before he debuted his recycled tie, William previously stepped out at the 2022 London premiere of Top Gun: Maverick wearing Crockett & Jones black velvet loafers embroidered with airplanes. The loafers were on-theme for the evening, but they were also easy to miss since he paired the shoes with a classic black tuxedo.

The prince's primary goal is always to stay on message, and the Breakthrough Energy Summit was no different. After speaking on a panel moderated by Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham, William went on to give a speech at the Summit.

"Thank you to Bill Gates and Breakthrough Energy for bringing together this brilliant collection of investors, philanthropists and environmental innovators and for inviting me to join you today. For me a big part of this week is about celebration," he said. "Celebrating the incredible minds that are working all around the world, night and day, on climate solutions; celebrating the individuals and organizations who are supporting them; and celebrating the progress we have already made."

He added, "Together with the support of The Earthshot Prize and Breakthrough Energy, environmental solutions like Circ’s recycled fabrics, 44.01’s natural carbon capture technology, and Takachar’s mobile bioreactors are all on a fast track to deliver real impact around the world. This is what gives me hope that we are taking the right steps to repair our planet."

Climate action is a cause close to the Prince of Wales' heart. Throughout his appearances at the Breakthrough Energy Summit, William spoke about his Earthshot Prize, an environmental contest that he launched in 2020 which awards innovators across five categories — Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World and Fix Our Climate — with $1 million each to make their innovations a reality.
