Prince William's daily diet may come as a surprise to royal fans as his eating habits have been revealed, from what he 'struggles' to eat to his favourite fast food.

Despite having some of the world's finest cuisines at his fingertips, from lavish banquets with foreign dignitaries to his father King Charles' Duchy Royal Organic British produce, the future King has some unexpected dietary preferences.

During his first official visit to Cornwall as the Duke of Cornwall in 2022, he was quizzed by nutritionist Monique Hyland about his eating habits at a community garden in Newquay.

The Prince of Wales not only revealed his daily diet but also his secret indulgences he enjoys when his wife, Kate Middleton, isn't there, the Mirror reports.

Monique told Cornwall Live that at first William seemed "a little bit nervous to begin with when I asked him what he ate yesterday" when she questioned him about his meals the day before.

However, this was all part of a nutritional quiz and although the prince got off to an impressive start, but by lunch time, his diet had become a bit more unhealthy.

'Healthy' breakfast

During his visit to the community space, William completed a nutrition sheet.

He stated that he enjoys a "healthy breakfast" which consists of two eggs, wholemeal toast with butter, apple juice and a cup of tea.

During a visit to Swansea in 2022, the Prince of Wales revealed his cooking skills, telling a group of kids in a small church kitchen: "I do a good breakfast, sausage, bacon and eggs".

Local resident Monique added that Prince William often relies on others to provide his meals, revealing: "He admitted someone had got him a 'rubbish sandwich' for lunch," which he paired with a glass of water.

While his father, the monarch, is known for skipping lunch during public engagements, he does enjoy tasting samples when offered.

Pasta preference for dinner

The evening before his royal visit, the future King chose to have white fish for his dinner but former royal chef Darren McGrady has revealed the prince's preference for pasta dishes.

Darren recalled cooking mac and cheese for a young William, while Kate previously revealed during A Berry Royal Christmas in 2019 that her husband used to cook her bolognese during their days at St Andrews University together.

Kate has also previously spoken about her love for spicy food but revealed ahead of their tour of India in 2016, that William "struggles" with spices

Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl told Vanity Fair that Kate loves to cook William his favourite dish, which is a roast chicken dinner.

She said: "In the evenings she indulges her hobby of cooking William's favourite supper, roast chicken."

Prince William is also a big fan of Nando's which was revealed in the BBC documentary, Football, Prince William and Our Mental Mental Health which aired in May 2020.

He confessed: "Everyone loves a Nando's. In fact, the policeman who's on with me again [today], he's the one who gets me the Nando's the whole time. It's his fault."

Snacks

Despite being reasonably healthy during his meal times, the 42-year-old does not shy away from indulgence when it comes to snacking.

During a trip to Newquay, he enjoyed "a chocolate brownie and a glass of red wine" to make up for his disappointing sandwich earlier in the day.

He revealed his choice of treat is often a banana and chocolate brownies and that he often pairs them with two or three cups of coffee for an extra boost.

The Prince of Wales also still enjoys the treats he had during his childhood.

Former Royal chef Darren McGrady used to whip up sausage rolls for him and Prince Harry as an after-school snack which they'd tuck into alongside mashed potatoes, baked beans, and a dollop of ketchup.
