Princess Charlotte to join brother George at Thomas's Battersea school

Princess Charlotte will join her brother Prince George at Thomas's Battersea school in September this year, Kensington Palace says.

The school's headmaster, Simon O'Malley, said: "We are delighted that The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have decided that Princess Charlotte will join her elder brother, Prince George, at Thomas's Battersea.

"We greatly look forward to welcoming her and all of our new pupils to the school in September."

Charlotte's older brother, Prince George, joined the independent school in south London in 2017.

When he started school two years ago, his mother Kate said she was not sure he had "any idea what's going to hit him".

Thomas's Battersea teaches 560 pupils between the ages of four and 13 and says that its most important school rule is to "be kind".

The school's website says its curriculum includes art, ballet, drama, ICT, French, music and PE taught by specialist teachers.

It describes itself as a Christian school but says it is open to children of all faiths.

The building is Grade II listed and was formerly Sir Walter St John's Grammar School, which dates back to 1700.

According to The Good Schools Guide, fees cost between £14,235 to £20,868 per year.

Princess Charlotte celebrated her fourth birthday earlier this month and pictures of the young royal - taken by her mother - were released to mark the occasion.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, famously protective of their children's privacy, said they were "very pleased" to share the photographs.

This month also saw the arrival of a new royal baby, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, who is the first child of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
