Princess Diana takes centre stage in a new trailer for The Crown season 6 as the final chapter of the Netflix drama appears to focus on the royal’s death.

The last season of the hit series is confirmed to air in two parts debuting on November 16 and December 14, 2023.

The emotional new trailer teases ahead to the storyline of season 6 part 1, with Elizabeth Debicki reprising her role as Diana.

The upcoming season of the Netflix drama will cover important events in royal life between 1997 and 2005.

Throughout the trailer, Debicki can be heard narrating as Diana as the Princess reflects on the challenges she’s endured in life.

"Don’t really understand how I ended up here," she says. "Dashing around and losing sight of myself in the process. I think that’s been the story of my whole life."

The new footage shows how Diana is struggling to deal with invasions of privacy from the paparazzi.

Harry Potter actress Imelda Staunton also features in the trailer, returning as Queen Elizabeth II, and is heard telling Diana: "You've finally succeeded in turning this house upside down. It's nothing less than revolution."

Meanwhile, Dominic West reprises his role as Prince Charles, Game of Thrones actor Jonathan Pryce returns as Prince Philip, and Mrs Harris Goes to Paris star Lesley Manville is back as Princess Margaret.

During the dramatic trailer, Diana is seen receiving a letter inviting her on a trip to Paris - which, as viewers know, is where the young royal died on August 31, 1997.

Looking ahead to part 2 of the final season, Netflix has already confirmed the last batch of episodes will follow on from the events of Diana's death.

The second half of the season is set to focus on how a young Prince William adapts to life following the loss of his mother and will also see the Queen reflect on the future of the monarchy.

The Crown season 6 part 1 launches on Netflix on November 16. The Crown seasons 1-5 are streaming on Netflix. Seasons 1-4 are also available on DVD and Blu-ray.
