Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana's best looks: The stylish world of a Thai royal

You may not be familiar with HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, but the Thailand royal family member is a stylish force to be reckoned with.

Nariratana is the daughter of the current Thailand King Vajiralongkorn and Sujarinee Vivacharawongse, his former consort who now lives in the United States.

Along with her duties as a working royal, Princess Sirivannavari has also launched herself as a fashion designer, specialising in couture.

As a 20-year-old fashion undergrad at Bangkok’s Chulalongkorn University, Sirivannavari was invited by Pierre Balmain to debut her collection “Presence of the Past” at Paris Fashion Week in 2007, which juxtaposed traditional Siamese dresses with modern street style.

She has since presented a number of collections and credits her grandmother HM Queen Sirikit, who was famous for her own hybrid style of elegant westernized gowns in the ’60s, as her fashion icon.

Sirivannavari is a regular attendee at various fashion weeks and always turns heads with her transformative red carpet looks, wearing everything from statement shades and vintage frocks to floral Giambattista Valli dresses and Chanel’s signature tweed.

She has also been a cover girl for Prestige, Harper's Bazaar and Vogue Thailand.

Fashion aside, Sirivannavari is also a dedicated athlete who once played professional badminton - her team won gold at the 2005 Southeast Asian Games.

She is also a resilient equestrian who trains in dressage six days a week. “I’ve had injuries. I’ve broken my leg, I have a screw in my left foot,” she told Tatler. “But I have never given up. I put all my efforts into achieving my goals.”
