The diverse array of Indian movies headed to Prime Video includes war film Shershaah, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani; Sudha Kongara’s action drama Soorarai Pottru; and the Vicky Kaushal-starring historical drama Sardar Udham.

The action drama Subedaar is directed by Suresh Triveni for Kapoor’s own Anil Kapoor Film Company and Prime Video. Indian-produced Amazon Original series unveiled in Mumbai include Farzi, The Family Man, Mirzapur, Dhootha, Jubilee and Made in Heaven.

Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, told the streamer’s flagship event in Mumbai that India represents a major and growing market. “For the last several years, outside of the U.S., more people have signed up for Prime in India than anywhere else in the world. Last year, India had the highest percentage of Prime members stream Prime Video than any country in the world,” Hopkins said.

Elsewhere internationally, he added that Indian content on the streamer’s platforms was viewed in over 210 countries and territories each week.

Prime Video rival Netflix unveiled its 2024 content slate on Feb. 29, where it announced all eight feature films and 14 series included in its slate. That marked a slight step down in terms of volume compared to recent years (Netflix released as many as 40 original Indian titles in 2021).
