Yahoo News Pro-Palestine Demonstrators Rally at University of Michigan
Pro-Palestinian demonstrators rallied at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor on Friday, October 13, in response to a statement issued by the university president that student groups said “failed to make any mention of Palestinian lives.”
In the statement, dated October 10, university president Santa Ono condemned the attacks on Israelis by Hamas and said “violence is never the answer.”
SAFEumich, a student group dedicated to Palestinian solidarity, said in an Instagram post that the email signified that “our wellbeing and our lives as Palestinians, as a colonized people, mean absolutely nothing to him,” and urged students to protest in front of the president’s house on Friday.
