Pro-Palestine Protesters Set Up Camp on Columbia University Lawn

Protesters set up tents on the South Lawn of Columbia University in New York City from early on Wednesday, April 17, demanding that the university divest its finances from companies supporting Israel’s activities in Gaza.

Footage recorded by Jonas Du shows the encampment on Wednesday morning.

Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine said the camp would remain until the university stopped investing in “companies and institutions that profit from Israeli apartheid, genocide, and occupation in Palestine.”

Other local protest groups said on Wednesday that access to the demonstration was being restricted, with NYPD officers and vehicles observed on the scene. Credit: Jonas Du via Storyful
